I own a two door jeep wrangler X 2007 JK with a hard top. I am interested in purchasing a soft top for it and I have done all of the research and found two options that are best for it. Both are by Bestop and I think one is a Supertop. I was planning to have the soft top on for 5 months of summer and hard top for 7 months of colder weather. Is it even worth it? I understand it is not easy to change from soft/hard top to the other but I am willing to spend time on it. But is it really difficult and not worth it to spend that much time on it? Let me know your input!
I have done that exact thing every year for the past 8 years or so. I hate having my hard top in the summer and hate having the soft top in the winter!
It is usually a 3 man job to get the hard top off. It really only takes about 20 minutes to get the bolts off and lift it off. It's not hard at all. The hardest thing about the hard top is finding a place to store it!!
Just this winter we bought a hard top winch and if you have a garage and the money to pay for one, this is the way to go!!. We had the hard top off in 5 minutes. It took about 4 minutes to take the bolts off, put the hooks on the top, hit the button and up went the top!!
It is now hanging from the ceiling of our garage.

The soft top takes a little more time because there is more hardware involved. I would say it takes about 1/2 hour to get all of the hardware and the skins on. I don't find it troublesome at all.
It has also helped my soft top last way longer than it should. They say the average life of a soft top is about 5 years. Mine is on it's 8th year. It is faded, has a few small holes and some of the stitching is coming out, but it still keep the rain off my head!
