Has anyone imported a 2008 Honda Civic Coupe LX from the States?

I am planning to do so soon, and I'd like to know about any things that I should get prepared for, such as modifications that I might need to get after the inspection. I was also wondering whether it's possible or a good idea to get the modifications done in the States before driving it up here.

Specifically, I'd like to know whether the "Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent System" would meet Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 114 (CMVSS114), and if not (I was told that it doesn't), what's the best way to get it modified?

Similar experience or expertise welcomed...and I will probably have questions, so if you post something, please come back later and check!

If you thinking brand new and not having US residence, Mfg "s don't allow dealers to sell out of country, some dealers may under the table but overall unless you got a contact your wasting your time .

If its a used 2008 model there is no problems, think about this, why would Honda have a dealership in Niagara Falls if one only has to cross the border to buy for thousands less a brand new vehicle.

PS... I know for a fact Toyota or it may be Honda that dont cover warranty across the border, from memory I think it's Honda. in other words Honda Canada will not honor US vehicle warranty's, any issues you may have or recalls you will be going back to the US, when you consider all the little factors like odometer and re-sale down the road a US car will sell for less in Canada.
