Stroller Double

I plan to exchange my Bugaboo for a double stroller, but I'm not sure side by side set up is better or front and rear. My son is 3 years and 6 months. Suggestions?
The only thing with tandem stroller (front and rear seats) is that usually the front seat is very short for the child more and older and one at the rear isn't very comfortable for your baby. I had a Graco duo glider for my children when my daughter was born and I hated! It was very heavy, my son, who was at the front, was uncomfortable since the seat was too short for him, he height middle and I just didn't like it at all.Luckily my son decided to walk over and I could go back to a single stroller. I would coast to coast, new models there arent very large and light enough! It's a big problem with a double stroller, they are very heavy.
