parking on double yellow lines, but not the entire vehicle (!)?

just received a parking ticket for parking on double yellow lines. few points: 1) only one third of the vehicle was actually on the double yellow lines - the rest was in a valid space - No idea if I have a case valid to call 2) double yellow lines in question does not comply with advice to governments on the double Yellow lines - width incorrect to say, the correct distance away from the sidewalk, so any ideas on whether or not it is useful to call ... any advice would be most welcome. cheers

1) Utterly irrelevant. You only have to "cover" some of the lines double yellow to be guilty a parking infraction. Do not bother to call. 2) If you can prove in a court of law that the lines do not comply with government regulations, then you can have a valid cause of action.
